With the increasing number of vehicles, fuels consumed as well as GHG emitted by them are rising dramatically. To reduce fuel consumption and mitigate climate changes, nations around the world have established more and more stringent fuel economy and emission standards, as shown in the following figure.

 

Dr. Feng An, founder and executive director of iCET, was instrumental in helping China establish a series of national fuel economy standards for cars and trucks since 2004. Since 2010, iCET has been tracking and evaluating the fuel economy standard implementation in its Annual China Passenger Vehicle CAFC Research Report (renamed as joint CAFC-NEV credit development since 2016).
