On April 29, 2026, the international workshop “Scaling Up SAF Development: Sustainability Certification and Price Support Mechanisms for Major Technology Pathways,” organized by our Beijing team, was successfully held in Beijing. More than 60 representatives from airlines, energy companies, certification bodies, industry associations, research institutes, and international organizations participated in the event.

The workshop was moderated by Dr. An Feng, who noted in his opening remarks that the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is entering a critical stage, moving from technology validation toward large-scale commercialization. He emphasized that coordination among technology pathways, sustainability certification systems, and pricing mechanisms will be essential for advancing the industry.

During the workshop, experts held in-depth discussions on “From Sustainability Certification to Market Development: Collaborative Pathways for Scaling Up SAF.” Participants highlighted that international sustainability certification systems are increasingly shaping the development prospects and market access of different SAF technology pathways. They also stressed that China should accelerate the establishment of a certification system that aligns with international mutual recognition while reflecting domestic industrial and resource conditions.

In addition, participants noted that policy tools such as carbon markets, financial subsidies, and Book & Claim mechanisms should be further integrated to help reduce green premiums, stimulate market demand, and support SAF’s transition from pilot projects to large-scale deployment.

The workshop concluded with productive discussions and broad consensus. Participants agreed that stronger coordination among technology innovation, certification systems, and market mechanisms will be critical to promoting the high-quality development of the SAF industry.
