On February 2, 2018, Dr. Feng An, Executive Director of iCET, was invited by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) to attend the 2018 Future of Mobility Summit in Silicon Valley, US. As one of speakers, Dr. Feng An shared his ideas and insights in the track “ELECTRIC VEHICLES – Changing policy framework for EV adoption”. Speakers on the same topic included Matthew Baldwin (Deputy Director, European Commission), Anat Bonshtien (Chairman and Director, Fuel Choices and Smart Mobility Initiative, Israel Prime Minister’s Office) and Joshua Cunningham (Branch Chief, Sustainable Transportation Technology, California Air Resource Board), etc. Electric Vehicles (EV) policy is shifting as the importance of EV quotas and fuel economy regulations grows. However, the current adoption is still patchy and other incentives will definitely have a role to play. The Speakers mainly exchange ideas and bring the latest insights around the following questions: What policy tools have the best chance of kickstarting more ‘organic’ EV demand growth? What policy changes could derail the market? Where will these be implemented? And what will we see more of in the coming years?
